As
part of Metrolinx’s regional transportation plan, Reinforced Earth Company
Ltd. (RECo) designed and supplied material for retaining walls in the railway
grade separation project over Denison Road. This railway corridor is shared
by GO Transit, VIA Rail and the Union Pearson Express (UP Express) which
is an airport rail link that runs between Union Station in Downtown Toronto
and Toronto Pearson International Airport.
The grade separation included a GO Transit bridge adjacent to a CP Rail
bridge and other than Reinforced Earth walls, this project included sheet-pile
cut-off walls with pre-stressed anchors and incorporated RECo’s TerraClass
panels with an ashlar stone architectural finish as a façade. Construction
started in Fall 2014 and finished in 2015.
